At least one in every ten children - whatever the country, community, or school - has a learning disability (LD) and/or Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD).  If you or a teacher has ever thought that your kid is lazy, unmotivated, or underachieving, he or she just might be one of that ten percent.

Do you want to know?

If you've been asking any of these questions, you may be wondering where you can get the answers, where you can meet parents with similar questions, and where you can get the emotional support that you need to cope with the many difficulties that arise from LDD and ADD, not only for the people who have them, but also for their parents and siblings.

We, the mothers and fathers who are members of this group, are finding our answers here.  We are educating ourselves in all aspects of LD/ADD, advocating for our kids, and striving to obtain the highest quality services for them.   For ourselves, we're finding solidarity with other parents, and getting and giving much needed emotional support and practical help and advice.

Today, in its 10th year of operation, the support group has over 300 members. Most of the members are mothers and fathers of kids with LD or ADD.  Some of us are school counselors or teachers, who want to learn to understand and to be more effective with the LD and ADD kids in our schools or classes.

We welcome new members, at a small annual membership fee. Most of our activities are in English, but a few are in Hebrew.* Native Israelis with a command of English are also welcome.

Our services include:

A monthly lecture given by a knowledgeable professional on a subject related to LD / ADD, followed by questions and answers. Our Topics cover subjects such as Coaching Coping Strategies for parents and Children, Transition of Children into Teenagers, Biofeedback, Medication, Sleep Disorder, and Treatments for youngsters O.T.  Speech Therapy and many more.

The lectures are open to non-members, but members receive a discount.

Monthly meetings of the Support Group's sub-groups of:

Parents of teens with ADD/LD

Parents of young adults with ADD/LD (in Hebrew); and

Adults with ADD/LD.

Other sub-groups can always be formed at the initiative of interested members.   The sub-groups allow more personal discussion focused on issues of specific concern and closer contact with others in the Support Group whose concerns are closest to your own.
